ich hab zwei PC's (win98, winXP) und will sie über USB verkabeln, dazwischen ist ein HUB geschaltet. HAb alles versucht, aber nix will... KAnn mir jemand sagen wie ich das richtig anstelle?

schau mal ob du das ding überhauptüber einen hub laufen lassen kannst.
tip - 2 netzwerkkarten mit kabel sind günstiger und einfacher zu installieren als ein usb-netzwerkkabel.

ach ja, ist das ein USB-Netzwerk oder ein USB-Linkkabel ?

...das versuch ich auch schon länger :(

Win98SE - Dell WinXP - OK now

Hi,

Had the same problem as most of you guys as well. Failure to detect remote connection, when connected had problem transferring large files or multiple folders.

Tried a few other options and the following seems to be the most stable situation for Win 98SE (desktop PC) and Win XP (Dell Notebook) on my systems.

1. Both system MUST have one operating drive only i.e. C:. Multiple drives (used to be SW partitioned into C and D on my desktop) seems to give unstable operation. It is not necessary for both system to be in FAT32 or NTFS. My PC is FAT32 while Notebook is NTFS.

2. Used latest driver 1.6 for both systems downloaded from parent website (wd_pl2301_v1600.zip) at http://tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor/v_filebrw_result.asp

3. De-install and delete any previous installed versions of PC-Linq. Sometimes de-installation leaves behind some folders. Delete these as well.

4. Power up both system. Place the driver into some folder and unzip them.

5. Plug the cable into both system. The auto plug-in wizard will pop up and request for driver etc. Just follow through. Point wizard to the drivers and install the drivers into the same windows folders. (I used C:/Program Files/PC-Link) Ignore the Win XP compatibility message and just proceed.

6. System should be ready for operation. (at least on my systems)

7. For smooth file transfers, it's better to first zip or winrar them into single file. I had transferred single file of size about 350MB successfully.

Hope this helps. So far, I had not encountered any problem (yet) with this setup for the last 1 month.
