Hallo! Ich besitze einen Compaq Presario PC mit AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Prozessor (1,53 GHz, 256 MB RAM), den ich einst bei LIDL erstanden habe und auf dem ich jetzt, nachdem ich mit Windows ME Probleme hatte, Windows XP installiert habe. Soweit funktioniert alles, jedoch habe ich Probleme mit den USB-Anschlüssen (Die unter Win ME einwandfrei funktioniert haben). Zwar zeigt der Geräte-Manager an, dass alles Geräte inkl. USB-Ports ordnungsgemäß installiert sind und es keine Konflikte gibt. Ich kann jedoch keine Geräte über USB anschließen und installieren, die zweifellos passenden TReiber werden nicht erkannt und überhaupt reagiert der USB-Port erst sehr spät. Kann es sein, dass ich noch entsprechende TReiber für den Chipsatz, bzw. das Mainboard (MSI MS-6380 LE ATX mit VIA Chipsatz) installieren muss, damit ich USB fehlerfrei nutzen kann? Kann es problematisch sein, dass USB denselben IRQ nutzt wie mein Modem? Dank und Gruß, Hoss

es kann nicht nur so sein, es ist so.

Ohne entsprechenden Treiber funktionieren verschiedene Bauteile wie USB-Anschluß, Sound-Karte u.ä. nicht oder nicht optimal.

Verschiedene Geräte funktionieren zwar, aber nur in Standartkonfiguration.

Danke für die Antwort. Habe inzwischen die neuesten Treiber für mein Mainboard heruntergeladen und installiert. Allerdings tut sich was USB betrifft immer noch nichts, heißt, angeschlossene Geräte werden relativ spät registriert und können nicht eingerichtet, also installiert werden, obwohl die hundertprozent richtigen Treiber vorhanden sind.
Hat noch jemand eine Idee, wie ich den USB-Port fit machen kann? Gibt es vielleicht ein Programm, mit dem ich den USB-Port prüfen und Fehler ausfindig machen kann?

Ja, im Bios stehen alle Lampen auf grün was USB betrifft.
Ich habe echt keine Ahnung wo der Fehler noch liegen könnte... *verzweifel*

Na ja, ich habe sämtliche Treiber, die auf das Board zutreffen installiert und gehe davon aus, dass die auch geladen werden wenn der Rechner bootet. Im Gerätemanager wird zumindest jedes Gerät, auch die USB-Controller als installiert und funktionstüchtig angezeigt. Habe so langsam auch keinen Plan mehr und die Compaq Hilfe-Hotline will mir auch nicht helfen, weil ich am Betriebssystem herumgefrickelt habe, d.h. mit XP statt ME arbeite und die nur supporten, wenn der PC eben mit dem OS läuft, das ursprünglich bei Auslieferungszustand installiert war.
So wie es aussieht werde ich als nächstes wohl zur PCI-Karte greifen müssen um mit USB arbeiten zu können, in der Hoffnung, dass wenigstens DAS läuft.
Na ja, zumindest vielen Dank für die Unterstützung Helmut!

scheint ein allgemeines Problem zu sein, ich sitz gerade vor dem gleichen Problem (*nichtmehrweiterweis*).
Bin jetzt grade dabei WIN XP noch mal neu zu installieren auf FAT32. Vielleicht verträgt sich ja mit NTFS da irgend was nicht. Hab zudem alle Karten bis auf die Grafikkarte entfernt.

Tja, ich habe keine Lösung finden können und inzwischen eine PCI-USB-Karte eingebaut, damit läuft alles bestens, allerdings ist jetzt natürlich ein STeckplatz belegt und gekostet hat der Spaß 25 EURO.

H U R R A A A A A !!!!!!
Ich hab die Lösung:
Ich hab das System ohne alle Steckkarten auf FAT32 formatiert und WINXP neu installiert. Direkt nach der erfolgten Installation dann aus dem Internet auf der Seite: http://www.hardtecs4u.com/files/via/ die neuesten VIA-Treiber installiert. Anschließend die USB-Treiber aus der o.g. Seite ganz unten (USB 1.08, USB 1.1 und USB-Patch) nacheinander installiert und ---> dann gings bei mir!!!!

Erst dann den Drucker, Scanner, usw. instlliert, und ganz zum Schluß noch die PCI-Steckkarten (1. Soundkarte, 2. Modemkarte) nacheinander gesteckt und installiert. Dann die Programme alle wieder drauf.

System läuft jetzt wieder stabil.

Question: I cannot get USB to work. What can I do?
Answer:
1) Check that USB is enabled in your bios. Consult your motherboard manual to see how to do this.

2) Windows 95, first edititon and Windows NT does not support USB. All other operating systems have their own USB driver built in.

3) Check your motherboard manufacturer´s web site to see if they have a BIOS that provides more power to the USB or fixes any known issues.

4) Make sure that you do not have a device or many devices that require more power than your USB port can supply. A standard onboard USB has 450 to 500 mA of power (this is the USB standard). Examples of power used by USB devices:

Microsoft USB mouse - 100mA
Saitek Cyborg 3D joystick - 20mA
Kodak DC4800 camera - 2mA
USB network card - 180mA

Cannon Scanner N65OU uses 500mA of power just plugged in and up to 800mA when scanning

If all these USB devices are used at the one time they would need 1102mA of power but the total provided by the motherboard USB is only 500mA. The only way to use many USB devices at once is to get a Powered USB hub. A powered USB hub uses 0mA and has up to 5000mA available. If you want to or need to use many USB devices at a time, you have to get a powered hub. Some devices like scanners, even on their own need a powered hub. They can run off the motherboard, but it is not recommended if they use over 400mA. Some devices can also be plugged directly into power and use self-power mode rather than using the bus-power provided by the motherboard. You coudl check to see if this is an option for any devices you use.

To find out how much power your devices are using - go into System Properties from Control Panel. Go into Device Manager under Hardware and under the tab for Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Go into USB Root hub and look under power. It will list the mA for devices plugged in. There will be a USB root hub for every two ports you have available on your board. This will vary between 2 and 6.

5) Other things that will effect power to the USB are 1) BIOS settings made by motherboard manufacturers 2) Power Supply - an insufficient power supply will reduce power to the USB 3) CPU speed - the higher the power consumption of the CPU, the less power will be supplied to the USB and 4) the more peripherals you have in the PC will reduce the power to the USB

hab in der unten gezeigten Reihenfolge die Treiber auf meinem Board installiert, dann gings bei mir wieder.

1.) USB: 1.08
Aktiviert USB Funktionen. War ursprünglich nur bei Windows 95 erforderlich, wird von VIA nun aber auch bei allen anderen Windows-Versionen empfohlen.


2.) USB: 1.10
Aktiviert USB Funktionen. War ursprünglich nur bei Windows 95 erforderlich, wird von VIA nun aber auch bei allen anderen Windows-Versionen empfohlen.
Änderungen an dieser Version: Adds support for Windows XP. Fix the issue where USB devices will be reenumerated when system resumes from Standby mode.


und 3.) USB: 1.2
Experimenteller USB-Patch für VIA-Southbridges, welcher Erkennungsprobleme mit einigen USB-Geräten beheben soll.
