W2K-SP3 über SP3 DRÜBERinstallieren ?

Hallo,
Ich habe W2K pro SP3.
nachdem ich versch. Reg-Tools benutzt habe, auch u.a. Sun Java installiert und versch. Ordner + Dateien gelöscht habe, wurde mir gesagt, ich solle einfach "mal" den SP3 wieder (nochmal!)drüberinstallieren, könne nicht schaden.
Habe nun den "SP3 Express" von MS DL und entzippt, sodass er als "update.exe" wohl ohne backup (zum etwaigen späteren Entfernen, falls nötig) installiert würde, falls überhaupt klappt!
hier ein Auszug von MS: [wo ich nicht durchblicke]
"Scenario 1: Installing the service pack such that computers use local service pack source files (recommended)
This method enables you to set up a shared distribution folder on a network so that users can upgrade their computers from a central point and store their system backup files locally.
You can do this by starting the W2ksp3.exe program (setting whatever options you want to use). You can also create logon scripts for users, which will ensure that they can upgrade to SP3 when they next use their computers.
To install the service pack
Connect to the network or computer on which you want to create the distribution folder.
In the shared folder on the network, create a distribution folder for the service pack.
For example, to create a distribution folder named SP3, type the following at the command prompt:
mkdir E:\SP3
To install the service pack from the distribution folder (in this example, named SP3), type the following at the command prompt:
E:\SP3\W2ksp3.exe "
Muss ich nun "mkdir \E:\SP3" (WARUM E:\ )
oder E:\SP3\W2ksp3.exe" benutzen, und die NICHT entzippte "sp3express.exe" (mit DOS-icon) verwenden ? (würde die in DOS starten, sodass ich DORT den entspr. Befehl eingeben könnte)?
In MS finde ich die "W2ksp3.exe" nicht mehr.
SP4 kann mein PC nicht "vertragen" - in der "scesetup.log" fehlen ca. 1/3 aller Dateien SEIT W2K Inst. !![von Profi installiert]
Falls ein Drüberinstallieren mit "service Pack Files" - Ordner möglich wäre, verspreche ich mir u.U. einige Fixes.
WAS aber kann passieren ? die Hotfixes dürften mir dadurch nicht verloren gehen. (?)
Einstellungen in "Dienste" nicht verändert werden. (?)
Was müsste ich wieder überprüfen ? (Alexa und Co) ?
Ansonsten bleibt mir nur das restoren des letzten Images, wobei ich jedoch alle zuletzt installierten Progs + Tools "verliere", mit denen ich das alles ausprobieren will.
Ein Image restore würde ich dann etwas später machen, wenn der PC streikt.
Für Hilfe und Anleitung wäre ich seeeehr dankbar

ich würde mir das komplette SP3 runterladen und nochmal drüber installieren

Lies mal hier - bei der Express Inst. werden nach meinem Verständnis nur die fehlenden Updates installiert :
There are two installation options available:
the Express installation and the Network installation.
Note that whichever type of installation you choose, the end result – upgrading to SP3 – will be the same.
The Express installation
This installation package includes only the files required to start the installation and connect to a download server on the Microsoft Web site.
The remaining files you need are automatically identified and downloaded when the installation program connects your computer to the download server. Because the Express installation detects the service pack files that are already installed on your computer and installs only those files that need to be updated, the download time is significantly reduced.
The Network installation
This installation option downloads all of the SP3 files to your computer. This is an ideal download mechanism for any administrator who wants to set up a shared network folder for deploying SP3 across a network.
... und muss ich doch NOCHMAL den "Service Pack File" - ordner (distribution folder) erstellen ?
(WO, WIE + WANN ? )
mit welchen Befehlen ?
Habe stundenlang in MS gelesen, verwirrt nur noch mehr :=(
Bitte um weitere Hilfe (besonders, was die Befehle angeht), dass ich statt E:\ > C:\ schreiben muss, habe ich glaube ich kapiert. Doch was genau, bei Express und wo, wie...
Dann soll man VOR SP3-Install noch ein "update der emergency repair disk" machen (lt. MS - all so was), habe eh keine, dürfte sich doch erübrigen, oder ?
Habe ohnehin kaum Speicherplatz frei.
